Dundas Social Impact Assessment (SIA) time-line
This time-line provides an overview of the progress and procedures for the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) related studies and report. The work on the SIA was initiated in June 2016.
The Terms of Reference (ToR) for the SIA were outlined in 2017 and approved for both an onshore- and offshore- focused mining operation. However, in the course of the development of the Dundas Ilmenite Project, this was this changed by Dundas Titanium A/S to solely focus on an onshore mining operation. This was also reflected in the SIA report that was accepted in February 2020 as being compliant with guidelines laid out by the Government of Greenland and which was included into the public consultation documentation.
2017
February 2017 – Consultation trips to Qaanaaq including public information meetings and workshops took place prior to the formulation of the Terms of Reference.
February & October 2017 – In-person interviews and meetings have been held during consultation trips to Qaanaaq and Nuuk and Ilulissat information meeting.
October 2017 – public information meetings and workshops in Nuuk & Ilulissat occurred prior to the formulation of the Terms of Reference.
October 2017 – Terms of Reference for the SIA approved
2018
December 2018 – Phone and in-person interviews were carried out with researchers and key stakeholders.
October 2018 – Dundas Titanium A/S take the decision to only focus on an onshore mining operation.
2019
January to May 2019 – Further pPhone and in-person interviews werehave been carried out with researchers and key stakeholders.
May 2019 – Information meeting with to stakeholders took place in connection with Future Greenland conference 2019.
May 2019 – Submission of SIA report and background reports made in first drafts to Government authorities.
2020
February 2020 – SIA report accepted as compliant with guidelines for Public Consultation by the Greenland authorities.
February 2020 – SIA accepted as compliant with guidelines by the Authorities.
